Q90. How should we read and hear God’s Word so that it leads to salvation?

For God’s Word to lead to salvation, we must pay careful attention, prepare our hearts, and pray, receive it with faith and love, store it in our hearts, and live it out in our lives.

Illustration

Listening to a recipe is not the same as cooking dinner. And cooking dinner once is not the same as knowing the recipe by heart. God wants us to hear his Word, take it in, remember it, and then live it out. Each step matters.

Application

Because God speaks to you through his Word, pick one verse from this week’s Bible reading and write it on a card. Put it somewhere you will see it every day, like the bathroom mirror or your lunchbox. Ask God to help it go from your eyes into your heart.
