It teaches us that because God is the Lord, and our God and Redeemer, we are bound to keep all his commandments.

  1. 1

What does the introduction to the Ten Commandments teach us?

  2. 2

If God has already saved his people, why does he still give them commandments to follow?

  3. 3

How would it change the way you obey your parents if you always remembered how much they love you first?

Illustration

When your parent asks you to set the table, you do it because you belong to your family, not because you are trying to get adopted. God's people obey his commandments because he has already made them his own. Obedience is the family business.

Application

Because God is your Lord and Redeemer, you are not obeying a stranger. You are obeying your Father. Ask him to help you keep his commandments with a willing heart this week.
