Table of Duties
Q67. What does Scripture teach people in the church?
Obey your church leaders and respect their authority. They watch over you and must answer to God for how they lead. Obey them so their work is a joy, not a burden. God has also said that those who preach the gospel should be supported by the church.
Scripture Proofs — King James Version
Hebrews 13:17
1 Corinthians 9:14

What does it look like for you to make your pastor's work a joy rather than a burden?
Illustration
If your teacher spent all night preparing a lesson and you talked through the whole class, that would make her job a burden. But if you listened, asked questions, and tried your best, her job would be a joy. Your pastor prepares sermons, visits the sick, and teaches the faith. When you listen and take it seriously, his work becomes a joy.
Application
This Sunday, sit where you can see your pastor and focus on one thing he says in the sermon. Afterward, tell him what you heard. This small act shows that his work matters and makes his calling lighter.
