Table of Duties
Q66. What is the duty of pastors and church leaders?
A church leader must live a good life. He should be self-controlled, respectable, welcoming, and able to teach. He must not be violent but gentle, not a lover of money. He must hold firmly to the true message so that he can encourage others with good teaching and correct those who are wrong.
Scripture Proofs — King James Version
1 Timothy 3:2–4

How does your pastor serve you and your family?
Illustration
A shepherd has two jobs: feed the sheep and protect them from wolves. A pastor does the same thing with God's Word. He teaches the truth so the congregation is fed, and he corrects false teaching so the congregation is safe. Both tasks require a life that matches the message.
Application
Write your pastor a short note or draw a picture thanking him for one specific thing he has taught you. God placed your pastor in your life as a gift. Praying for your pastor is one way you serve him back.
