What does every sin deserve from God?

  2. 2

Why does even one small sin deserve God’s anger and curse?

How does knowing what sin deserves change the way you think about what Jesus did for you?

Illustration

When your parent tells you not to touch the hot stove and you touch it anyway, you get burned. It does not matter whether you touched it with one finger or your whole hand. Sin against a perfectly holy God is more serious than we usually think, because God’s holiness is greater than we usually imagine.

Application

Because Jesus took the curse and anger your sin deserved, you can thank him today for standing in your place. Say a prayer tonight that names one specific sin and thanks Jesus for bearing its punishment.
