    What is the third commandment?

  2. 2

What are some ways people misuse God's name?

  3. 3

Have you ever heard someone use God's name carelessly, and how did it make you feel?

Illustration

Your name stands for who you are. If someone at school used your name as a joke or a swear word, it would hurt because they are treating you as nothing. God's name represents everything about who he is. Using it carelessly treats the holy God as common.

Application

God promises that he will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. That is a serious warning. Ask God to help you speak his name with respect and to be bothered when others do not.
