Q50. What does the second commandment require?
The second commandment requires us to receive, follow, and keep pure all the ways of worship that God has appointed in his Word.
Scripture Proofs — King James Version
Deuteronomy 32:46
“And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.”

Why do you think it matters to God how we worship him and not just that we worship him?
Illustration
If your parent made you a sandwich exactly the way you asked, you would be glad. But if they put mustard on it when you said no mustard, you would notice. God has told us in his Word how he wants to be worshipped. He is not indifferent about the details.
Application
Because God cares about how he is worshipped, pay attention in church this week. Ask God to help you take worship seriously, doing it the way he has appointed rather than however feels easiest.
