Q39. What duty does God require of us?
The duty God requires of us is to obey his revealed will.
Scripture Proofs — King James Version
Deuteronomy 29:29
“The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
Micah 6:8
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
1 Samuel 15:22
“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”

What are some places where you can learn what God wants you to do?
Illustration
A teacher does not give a test without first teaching the lesson. God does not hide what he expects. He has told us clearly in his Word what he wants from us. The question is not whether we can find out, but whether we will obey.
Application
Because God has spoken clearly, you can ask him to help you listen when his Word is read at church or at home. Pick one thing you hear from the Bible this week and ask God for the strength to do it.
