Q23. What offices does Christ carry out as our Redeemer?
As our Redeemer, Christ carries out the offices of a prophet, a priest, and a king, both in his humble life on earth and in his glory in heaven.
Scripture Proofs — King James Version
Acts 3:22
“For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.”
Deuteronomy 18:15
“The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken.”
Hebrews 5:5–6
“So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.”
Psalm 2:6
“Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.”
Isaiah 9:6–7
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

A prophet speaks God's words to people. A priest goes to God on behalf of people. A king rules and protects people. Most people can only do one of these jobs. Jesus does all three perfectly at the same time.
Application
Pick one of Christ's three offices this week and thank him for it specifically. If you pick prophet, thank him for teaching you through his Word. If priest, thank him for his sacrifice. If king, thank him for his protection.
