Daily Prayers
Q64. What is the Morning Prayer?
In the morning when you get up, make the sign of the cross and say: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Then say the Creed and the Lord's Prayer. You may also pray: "I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you kept me safe through the night. I pray that you would keep me today from sin and every evil, so that my life may please you. I place myself, my body and soul, and everything into your hands. Let your holy angel be with me, so that the devil may have no power over me. Amen."

Illustration
A soldier puts on armor before going into battle, not after. The Morning Prayer is like putting on armor before you step into your day. You thank God for the night, ask him to guard you from sin, and hand your whole self over to his care. You go out into the day already covered.
Application
Try praying the Morning Prayer every day this week. Set it beside your bed or tape it to the bathroom mirror. Say it out loud before you start your day. Because God kept you through the night, you can trust him with the day ahead.
