Lord’s Day 25
Q68. How many sacraments did Christ give us in the New Testament?
Two: baptism and the Lord's Supper.
Scripture Proofs — King James Version
Matthew 28:19–20
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
1 Corinthians 11:23–26
“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.”

Illustration
A doctor gives you exactly the medicine you need. Not too much, not too little. Jesus gave his church two sacraments because those are the two his people need. Baptism marks the beginning of belonging to him. The Lord's Supper feeds us along the way.
Application
Ask a parent to tell you about your baptism or about the last time they took the Lord's Supper. Listen to what it meant to them and what it teaches about Jesus.
