The Lord's Prayer
Q46. What does this mean?
This means I can be sure that God hears these prayers and is pleased by them, because he himself told us to pray this way and promised to answer us. Amen, amen means "yes, yes, it shall be so."
Scripture Proofs — King James Version
2 Corinthians 1:20

Illustration
If your teacher said, "Come to my desk whenever you need help and I will always answer," you would go with confidence. God has done something even better. He gave us the exact words to pray and promised he would hear them. Prayer is not guessing or hoping. It is going to a Father who invited you to come.
Application
Pray the entire Lord's Prayer out loud before bed tonight, one petition at a time. After each petition, pause and think about what you just asked for. Because God promised to hear this prayer, you are not talking to the ceiling.
