Lord’s Day 3

Q6. Did God create people to be wicked?

No! God created people good and in his image, which means in true righteousness and holiness. He made us so that we could know him, love him with all our hearts, and live with him in happiness forever, praising and honoring him.

Scripture Proofs — King James Version

1

Genesis 1:31

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

2

Genesis 1:26–27

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

3

Ephesians 4:24

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

4

Colossians 3:10

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.

When your parents make your favorite meal, it comes out of the kitchen good and ready to eat. If someone dumps salt all over it, that is not the cook's fault. God made people good. The mess came later, and it was not God's doing.

Application

This week, thank God that he made you on purpose and made you good. Even though sin has broken things, ask God to help you remember that he created you to know him and love him.
