Lord’s Day 9

Q26. What do you believe when you say: I believe in God the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth?

That the eternal Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who made heaven and earth and everything in them out of nothing, and who still holds them together and rules them, is my God and Father because of Christ his Son. I trust him so much that I have no doubt he will give me everything I need for body and soul. Whatever hard things he sends my way in this broken world, he will turn them to my good. He is able to do this because he is almighty God. He wants to do this because he is a faithful Father.

Illustration

When you sit down at the breakfast table and there is food waiting for you, someone made sure it was there. You did not have to worry about it. God the Father is like that, except he provides everything: your food, your home, your health, your family. He even turns hard things into good things for you because he is your Father through Jesus.

Application

At breakfast tomorrow, before you eat, name three things God your Father has given you. Because he is almighty and faithful, you can trust him to keep providing. Thank him for being the kind of Father who wants to take care of you.
